“Robert Andrews successfully defended my son in a double homicide case (fatal shooting of two adults).  This was a case where – I think it’s fair to say – the county prosecutor, detectives, media and the general media audience expected it to end in a life sentence under a guilty verdict for my son.  The lead prosecutor, who was the Chief Trial Deputy for the County’s District Attorney’s office, argued for two counts of first-degree murder over a week-long jury trial.

I’m thankful for having found a diligent and talented lawyer to gather, discover, analyze, defend and present the facts just as Mr. Andrews did.  He built a strong case by thoroughly doing all the ground work in seeking out every evidence trail.  I got to witness firsthand how he intelligently pieced all the evidence and facts together.  In the end, Mr. Andrews’ professional legal skill and competencies were instrumental in persuading the jury to return a not-guilty verdict on all counts of murder and manslaughter, resulting in my son regaining his freedom.

Mr. Andrews showed himself to be fully committed, pouring himself into the casework, from the first moment of taking on the case.  Once the police and investigators  completed their work at the location, Mr. Andrews initiated steps to secure and preserve the apartment for future analysis.  He personally visited the scene to conduct his assessment and then employed other competent professionals to gather and recreate what had occurred.  He made key discoveries in the course of his examination and interviews of witnesses, which allowed him to establish a sound self-defense case.  Additionally, he identified and cataloged all of my son’s injuries, evinced by a series of photos and DNA evidence.  All this was personally important for me as it provided much clarity and an understanding of what exactly transpired leading up to the point of shots fired.

Mr. Andrews was astute to observe that the DA had withdrawn evidence it had obtained from an expert witness at a costly sum.  He, in turn, secured this same expert witness along with his critical evidence that proved invaluable.  This move turned out to be very compelling in demonstrating self-defense.  Furthermore, he fought for entry of all relevant evidence (e.g., 911 call, detective interrogation, witness accounts), which proved beneficial for my son’s defense.

Mr. Andrews continuously made himself accessible to us throughout the entire course of the 13 months and always kept us informed each step of the way.  Along the way, he shared his findings with my family and me, and listened to our reactions and input.  Moreover, his visits were of much encouragement to my son throughout his incarceration.  While careful never to take anything for granted, he gave us much confidence and optimism for a favorable outcome.

Mr. Andrews was well prepared by the time the trial began.  He knew what to anticipate and how to counter it.  Throughout the trial, the jury heard Mr. Andrews speak in a deliberate and impactful manner.  His arguments were plain, to-the-point and fact-driven.  His counterarguments proved effective in refuting the prosecutor’s assertions, and sometimes even shutting them down altogether.  Throughout the trial, he challenged and exposed every prosecutor flaw while showing all the courtesies and respect to the court.  His closing argument was compelling, demonstrating the preponderance of evidence proving self-defense.  Now looking back, this turned out to be an exhausting trial to prepare for.  Yet, Mr. Andrews worked the case with the same determination even though, I had to believe, his budgeted hours would have been exhausted sometime prior to the conclusion of the trial.  He labored tirelessly during the 10-day trial.  We were well served to have our son represented by Mr. Andrews to whom we are very grateful.”
